Shift 1 will help with client in take and registration and also washing, drying, folding clothes. Punctuality: Please make sure you arrive on time. It is very important to The Beacon’s operation. Be ready to start when the shift begins so there is no lapse in service provided to the clients. Volunteers who arrive after their scheduled shift has started may have to wait for another assignment to open before they can start a volunteer task. The Beacon’s volunteer policy prohibits anyone under the age of 13 from volunteering in the Day Center. If there are children in your group, please make sure they meet this minimum age requirement. ***What to Wear***. (optional) Red Hope City Serve shirt, any Hope City merchandise, or any shirt. The Beacon has been and will remain a safe haven for their clients and volunteers. When volunteering at The Beacon, they request that all of our volunteers dress in modest attire. Wear pants, closed-toed shoes, and non-revealing clothing. An example of this would be athletic shoes, jeans, and a t-shirt. If you need a red serve shirt please text me at 832-275-3188. **DO NOT WEAR:**. “short” shorts, tank tops, flip flops, and any other article of clothing that may be considered a work/health hazard. ***Parking*** Parking is FREE to Beacon volunteers on the day of their volunteer shift. Please park in the Episcopal Diocese’s parking garage located at Christ Church Cathedral Garage 559 San Jacinto Street Houston, TX 77002 ***Where to Go Once You Park in the garage*** 1. Please enter the facility through the Beacon Volunteer entrance located on the backside of the building and faces Texas Avenue. There will be a sign directing you to this door as you exit the parking garage. 2. Use the stairs or elevator and make a left when you exit the gate. 3. Walk down the pathway and enter the door. If the door is locked, ring the bell, and someone should be there shortly to open the door for you! 4.
